Welcome to the Heart of the Matter Healing

Center, Your Safe Space

As professionals in various healing arts, our goal is to help you find the answer, stress relief, and mental healing you are seeking. Using a variety of methods, we will work with you to customize your path to wellness.

We offer group, individual, and teletherapy counseling sessions to a diverse range of clients across Texas. While we do not limit ourselves to any particular population, we work closely within the LGBTQ+ community. Our team specializes in domestic violence, abuse (sexual, physical, emotional, and religious), substance abuse, gender dysphoria, grief, and creating loving relationships.

“Hi, I'm Francis Smith, Franky preferably. I have been in the mental health field since 1996. I obtained my bachelor’s degree from Texas Woman’s University and my master’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Throughout the years, I have helped people overcome a variety of issues, including depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorder, physical emotional sexual and religious abuse, domestic violence, relationship issues, substance use, and gender dysphoria among others.

I'm not your typical therapist. I am a transgender individual. Having seen life through the eyes and emotions of both genders has helped me gain a unique understanding of issues. While my focus is on gender and LGBTQ+ issues, I am a general practitioner therefore, I work with all kinds of issues.

I’ve had many challenges in my life that led me to seek alternative healing methods as well as conventional therapy on my journey to wholeness. In my practice, I draw from many different healing modalities including Eastern healing arts, Native American practices, and psychotherapy.

When you’re ready to get down to the heart of the matter and come to wholeness in your life, give me a call.”
